Air China flight CA088, utilizing the domestically built C919 aircraft, adorned with the Chinese national flag, landed smoothly at Macao International Airport on Thursday and received a ceremonial water salute.
The aircraft made the journey at the invitation of organizers to participate in the 13th Macao Business Aviation Exhibition and will remain on display in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) for four days.
The special flight commemorated both the 75th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to China.
Captain Hao Xin, deputy chief of Air China's C919 flight squadron, said that since receiving its first C919 in August, Air China has successfully flown the Beijing-Shanghai and Beijing-Hangzhou routes, with plans to expand service to Beijing-Wuhan and other routes in the coming months.
The aircraft dispatched to Macao is the second C919 aircraft received by Air China, delivered on November 5. Air China took delivery of its first C919 on August 29 and began its commercial operations on September 10.
