Qufu, Shangdong (CNS)--The Confucius Six Arts City in Qufu, Shandong Province will hold its Confucianism study tour in farmhouses, combining study with the experience of traditional local culture.
Wednesday, around 300 students from Singapore and China went to a village in Qufu and joined local farmers in various activities, including firing tiles, farming land, and making pancakes and dumplings.
They also got the chance to experience many special traditions developed in the Chinese State of Lu, where the great saint Confucius was born and lived more than 2,500 years ago, such as Tai Chi, painting, calligraphy, carving, and paper-cutting.
"I am quite lucky and happy to visit Confucius' hometown and experience Confucianism myself. I took part in a Chinese writing contest and won the second-place prize, which further aroused my passion to learn about traditional Chinese culture. I will make the best of this chance to observe and learn," said Chen Junhong, a student from Malaysia.
Currently, based on the Confucius study tour, Qufu is adopting vigorous measures to integrate local tourism resources and explore traditional culture in a more profound way, with places of interests being renovated and featured dances, songs, and ceremonies being developed.
