Beijing (CNS)--About 188 million yuan($27.95 million)was misallocated during the reconstruction of Wenchuan, accounting for no more than 0.2 percent for the total investment, China News Service reported Friday in Beijing, citing China's top auditor.

The National Audit Office (NAO) organized four specially appointed offices and more than 20 local bodies to carry out an overall audit of the reconstruction of Wenchuan County from June to November 2010, according to Xu Aisheng, chief of the fixed assets investment audit department at the NAO. Wenchuan, located in southeastern China's Sichuan province, was badly hit by an 8.0 magnitude earthquake last May.

More than 1,400 projects and thousands of construction units were investigated during the audit, but only 36 projects, 16 construction units and 11 supervision units were found guilty of infractions. The nation invested 113 billion yuan in the reconstruction work, Xu added.

The NAO will publish the final results when the audit is finished at the end of 2011, according to Xu. The NAO will also conduct follow-up audits and investigations of some important construction projects, the report said.
