London(CNS)--"China-UK relations are like a speeding car. In order to drive the car well, there are four 'driving' points to bear in mind," said Liu Xiaoming, Chinese Ambassador to Britain during a press conference on June 21.
The conference was held for the announcement of the coming visit of Wen Jiabao, Chinese Premier, to the UK between June 25 and 27.
Liu said Wen will attend the UK launch of the new MG6 Magnette car during his visit in Birmingham. This brings to mind that China-UK relations are like a speeding car. To drive the car well, there are four 'driving' points to bear in mind.
The first point is driving in the right direction. China and the UK are partners, not rivals. The two countries should continue to strengthen their comprehensive and strategic cooperation, which will benefit their people and promote world peace and prosperity.
The second point is ensuring a powerful motivational force. The two sides should 'step on the gas' and push forward with cooperation in various fields to achieve the goal of 100 billion USD in bilateral trade by 2015.
The third point is stabilizing the car's chassis. The two nations have different social systems, culture, history, and levels of development, but their relations should be based on mutual understanding and mutual respect. This will help the two partners overcome challenges and remove barriers.
The fourth point is to improve the road conditions. The relations between the two countries are, after all, the relations between their people. China and the UK should encourage more cultural and educational exchanges to enhance the friendship between their people.
