Beijing (CNS) -- The Chinese Three Tenors, Dai Yuqiang, Wei Song, and Mo Hualun, will set out for a world tour from the Great Hall of the People on October 21.
Ten years ago, the Three Tenors, Spanish singers Plácido Domingo and José Carreras and the Italian singer Luciano Pavarotti, impressed the whole city of Beijing with their spectacular concert in the Forbidden City.
Ten years have passed, and the Chinese Three Tenors will now immerse the rest of the world in their magic voices.
The concert in the Great Hall of the People will include representative Chinese and foreign classical works. Some content of Western operas in concert routines will be replaced with well-known, amusing small pieces, covering bel canto classics and traditional folk songs.
As the last prentice of Pavarotti, Dai Yuqiang said: "The concert will present a China with a five-thousand-year rich culture through our singing." Wei Song described his excitement as being the same as when the aircraft carrier was launched.
It is a sense of mission for Mo Hualun. "I used to sing operas solo before. I like the feeling of singing our own songs this time. Chinese culture will be brought overseas by the concert."
The Chinese Three Tenors have different styles. Dai's voice is characterized as passionate. Wei's performance, widely praised as typical Italian bel canto, is extremely attractive in grace and sentiment. Mo is currently the most active Chinese tenor and has wonderful skills in role-playing.
The three celebrities have cooperated seven times before. However, this is the first time that they have been labeled as the "Chinese Three Tenors."
The Chinese Three Tenors are aiming to serve as a symbol of the Chinese culture industry, according to Kang Wei, chairman of the Beijing Performance Arts Group.
