Hefei (CNS) -- An interactive English polymer chemistry course was jointly carried out by the University of North Carolina (UNC) in the U.S., and the University of Science and Technology (USTC) in China, earlier this month.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a famous American public university, enjoying an especially high reputation in the field of polymer chemistry.

According to head at the dean's office of the USTC, polymer chemistry is one of the fundamental courses for students in this major. To break through the current traditional teaching mode and increase exposure to international education, the Chinese university negotiated with its American cooperator and launched this Internet video lecture program.

During the program, video and audio lecture resources will be shared between students across the Pacific. The Principles of Polymerization textbook will be adopted. Students will be evaluated by American standards, under the instruction of five lecturers from both sides, three of whom are from the United States National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Changjiang Scholars Program.

The course will be provided three times a week, two-thirds contributed by the American professors and the rest by Chinese scholars.
