Chongqing (CNS)-The acrobatic ballet Swan Lake, the most expected show in the 12th Asian Art Festival and China Drama Festival, will be staged in southwest China's Chongqing in November.
It integrates Chinese traditional acrobatics with western ballet. With Tchaikovsky's music, and other skills such as judo, trampoline and gangplank, the drama won the "Ulanova Award" in Russia.
Yu wanqing, the heroine of the show, said the "swan" always feels the pain when toeing on the prince's shoulder.
"It is not easy for ballet dancers to toe on floor, let alone on one's shoulder," said Yu.
For Chen Dong, the "prince", lifting a nearly 43-kilo "swan" is also not easy. Till now, a striking scar can still be seen on his shoulder.
Having a strong mind and trust in each other are important for "ballet on shoulder" dancers. In the "ballet on shoulder" dance, the "prince" is the one in charge. He needs to bear the weight of the "swan", and at the same time he needs to adjust subtly to help the "swan" keep balance, said Yu.
Chen agreed. He said, as the "prince," he has to have a strong sense of responsibility.
