Fuzhou (CNS) – The Fuzhou-Taiwan route has embraced 2,509 flights in the first ten months this year, with 272,648 passengers transported, respective increases of about 120% and 64% year-on-year, reports Fuzhou International Airport. The throughput of aerial shipments between Fuzhou and Taiwan is at 3,173 tons.
During the 12th Five-year Plan period (2011-2015), the Fuzhou-Taiwan route would be built as an aerial express route and Fuzhou International Airport has become the transfer station of choice for traffic across the Strait, it confirmed.
In addition to Xiamen Airport, Uni Air and TransAsia Airways, three airline companies, Mandarin Airlines, China Airlines and China Postal Airlines, have added to the Fuzhou-Taiwan route since September 2010. China Airlines and China Postal Airlines operate cargo routes.
"210,000 passengers flew with Fuzhou-Taiwan Airline in 2010, and our goal is to make that number 300,000 or more in 2011," said an employee at Fuzhou International Airport. Fuzhou is becoming the choice of more and more Strait commuters, and with the increase in Fuzhou-Taiwan flights, these travelers can access bargains in discounted tickets.
