Hefei (CNS) – Sebastien is a 29-year-old Frenchman who came to experience life on China's farms through the aegis of World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF).
His job on the Hefei Binhe Organic Farm, where he worked for half a month, was to build fences to prevent rabbits escaping from the warren, explained Sebastien before he left the farm today. Usually he contacted his family during his noon break to tell them what was happening.
Sebastien is not the first working guest to spend time here; two groups had come before on WWOOF' recommendation, said Zhao Bin, the owner of the farm.
WWOOF is a loose network of national organizations, which aims to provide volunteers with first-hand experience in organic and ecologically sound growing methods, and to let volunteers experience life in a rural setting or a different country. Over 40 countries have joined the organization.
