Beijing (CNS) – The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau expressed its determination to ensure the safety of school children by sending out over 10,000 police officers to inspect school transport vehicles in the city. Beijing has effectively adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards substandard school buses.

Beijing citizens have reported some of the city's many illegitimate school buses to police since a tragic traffic accident occurred recently in northwest China's Gansu province which proved fatal for 21 of the pupils involved.

To ensure the safety of school buses in Beijing is our duty, claimed the Bureau, which has handed out over 70,000 penalties this month for various violations.
