Foshan (CNS) – About 200 Wing Chun Kung Fu amateurs were invited to participate in the 2012 World Wing Chun Invitational Tournament in Foshan, the organizers announced at a press conference on Wednesday, confirming that Ye Zhun, son of the prestigious Wing Chun master Ye Wen, has accepted the role of image ambassador for the tournament.
The competition will be open to candidates from all around the world, said Checkley Sin, chairman of the Hong Kong Wing Chun Union, adding that while providing a competition platform for Wing Chun amateurs the activity is intended to promote Wing Chun on the world sport stage.
Nearly 200 amateurs from the UK, Russia, the US, Singapore, Malaysia and HKSAR have enrolled in the competition. The deadline is December 20.
Foshan, a city in South China's Guangdong province, holds the international Wing Chun Invitational Tournament every two years. The third such tournament will be held in Foshan's Nanhailuo village between January 13 and 15 in 2012, when the Ye Wen Memorial Hall holds its inauguration ceremony.
