Beijing (CNS) - China Aircraft Leasing Company Limited (CALC) signed a deal with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) to purchase 20 C919 air buses, COMAC confirmed at its press conference on December 8. It is the fourth sale of C919 planes in two months, and CALC became the tenth buyer.
To date, a total of 215 C919 air buses have been ordered by Sichuan Airlines and the Bank of Communications Finance Leasing Company and other companies. An unnamed official at COMAC noted the C919 orders imply a promising market for these planes.
CALC was founded in 2006, headquartered in Hong Kong. It has representative offices in Beijing, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Germany and Ireland. The company expressed its enthusiasm about offering advice to COMAC about the design and manufacture of C919.
The C919 air bus design is claimed to be indigenous intellectual property. The detailed design of the plane includes 150 seats and it will be completed in 2012. The first test-flight will be conducted in 2014, preparing the way for general use in 2016.
