Shanghai (CNS) -- Airlines in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries of Southeast Asia are increasing their flights to Shanghai to meet the vigorous tourism demands from eastern China.
So far this year, tourism from eastern China to the Philippines jumped by 30 percent compared to the same period last year, bringing prosperity to that country's airline businesses. Zest Airways offered a twice-per-week flight between Shanghai and Boracay starting from January, and reactivated the Shanghai-Cebu route as of November 12. The first flight of Cebu Pacific between Shanghai and Clark took off at dawn on Monday.
Garuda Indonesia plans to schedule a daily direct return flight on the Shanghai-Djakarta route, with Chinese attendants serving the tourists and business passengers, disclosed its Shanghai office.
Tickets between China and the Philippines, and China and Malaysia, are selling well; some flights close to the Spring Festival are already sold out, according to an insider of the Shanghai airline market.
