Taipei (CNS) – Xtep, a sport brand, is first out the gate in cross straits sports sponsorship with its involvement in the 2011 Fubang Taipei Marathon; it is the premier of a Chinese mainland company acting as a sponsor in a Taiwan event. The CEO of Xtep will attend the opening ceremony on December 18.
Fubang Taipei Marathon is the biggest in Taiwan, attracting about 100,000 contestants this time, the most on record. Chen Huaheng, secretary general of Taiwan Running Association also said candidates come from 57 countries and regions this year, including more than 100 from the Chinese mainland and 700 from Hong Kong.
Thanks to Xtep's sponsorship, the premium has gone up compared to last time, said Chen, adding that the bonus for record-breaking performances in men's and women's events has reached the highest level ever – 2 million in New Taiwan Currency. And 100 masseurs are on the Xtep payroll to provide soothing services for tired runners once the competition has finished. The series of matches will air in Asia through ETTV.
