Danjiangkou (CNS) – Danjiangkou Museum cost over 45 million yuan to build, and December 21 marked the opening of this new home for a wealth of historical relics collected from the construction site of the Three Gorges Dam. The dam is part of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
The museum is located in the 'new town' district of Danjiangkou, a city in Central China's Hubei province. Chu culture, Central Plains culture and Taoism all prospered here. A total of 15,000 square meters of floor space generously accommodates more than 100,000 relics found in tombs originated from the Spring and Autumn Period to the Six Dynasties era. The collection can be viewed without charge.
