Taiwan's 2012 jobless rate drops to 4.24%   

2012年台湾失业率4.24% 近四年来最低

台北消息：台湾当局统计部门发布的最新统计数字显示，2012年台湾失业率为4.24%，比上年减少0.15个百分点，也是自2009年国际金融危机以来最低。

Hong Kong (CNS) -- Taiwan's unemployment rate in 2012 dipped to 4.24 percent, a decrease of 0.15 percentage points from 2011, according to data released Tuesday by Taiwan's statistics bureau.

It is the region's lowest unemployment rate since 2009.

Taiwan's average number of employed people last year was 10.86 million, an increase of 151,000 over the previous year, the statistics show.

In December 2012, Taiwan's unemployment rate fell to 4.18 percent, a decrease of 0.09 percentage points compared to November, the lowest since June last year.

Its total number of employed people in December was 10.93 million, reaching the highest in history.
