New York (CNS) -- Chen Huanjing, son of eccentric millionaire philanthropist Chen Guangbiao, placed an ad on New York Times Monday to claim Chinese sovereignty over Diaoyu Islands.

Citing a Japanese scholar Kiyoushi Inove, the article said the island chain, which both China and Japan claim, is Chinese territory since ancient times.

"Despite of his Japanese identity, Professor Kiyoushi didn't twist the facts of history or go along with the lies and propagandas rooted in the Japanese militarism. On the contrary, he respected and upheld the real history guided by unshakeable moral principles," the article said.

Chen Huanjing said in the article that "I am currently in a US university as an international student majoring in Environmental Science." And he will be proud to fulfill his promise to his father and use knowledge to contribute to his home country, he added.

The ad is published in both Chinese and English, added with junior Chen's two photos and contact information.

In August, 2012, his father Chen Guangbiao published a half-page advertisement on New York Times, "solemnly declaring to the US Government and the American people", that the Diaoyu Islands have been the territory of China since antiquity.
