(ECNS) - Twenty-one "pet couples" tied the knot in a group wedding ceremony held in Beijing on Sunday, the Beijing Youth Daily reports.
The ceremony began around 10:00 a.m., with the arrival of the pets and their owners in a stretch Hummer and BMW convertibles. The brides wore dresses, and the grooms suits and bow ties.
Accompanied by the Wedding March, they were led in by their owners and received their marriage licenses. The event attracted many pet lovers, including a couple of Olympic champions who acted as witnesses for the pets.
One owner said caring for pets is both a joy and a responsibility one must take on for the long-term.
Shi Kangning, secretary general of the Committee of Wedding Service Industries, presided over the group wedding ceremony.
Organizers said the pet wedding shows not only the love people have for their pets, but also the rapid economic development of the pet industry.
