(ECNS) -- The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has set standard frequency ranges for handling unmanned aircraft systems.

MIIT announced on its website that drones should operate in the following three frequency ranges: 840.5-845MHz, 1430-1444MHz, and 2408-2440MHz.

The move aims to facilitate drones to be better utilised in emergencies, disaster relief, forest fire prevention, environmental monitoring, and scientific experiments.

Drones are widely reported to have a promising future in military, civil and commercial applications. In China, the market for agricultural and forest protection as well as electricity inspection alone is worth 16 billion yuan ($2.6 billion).

Moreover, aerial photography is highly reliant on drones. Technology giants, including Samsung, Tencent, Apple and Xiaomi, are also coming up with their own drone products.
