(ECNS) -- Chinese shares dived on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropping 321.45 points or 6.50 percent, to finish at 4620.27 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index lost 1050.58 points or 6.19 percent, to close at 15912.95 points.
On Monday, a report said Shanghai stock investors made an average of 156,400 yuan ($25,236) on the A-share market in the first four months of this year, and Beijing investors earned an average of 80,200 yuan.
Since the beginning of this year, the key Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) Composite Index has jumped more than 40 percent, while the start-up board ChiNext Index has surged a skyrocketing 140 percent.
