(ECNS) -- In light of China's urgent wish to host the World Cup, bidding needs to be carefully planned, a top sports official indicated on Thursday.
Cai Zhenhua, vice minister of China's State General Administration of Sport and also president of the Chinese Football Association (CFA), made the statement during an interview with China's Central Television.
Cai said it's complicated to tell exactly when China would bid to host the world's biggest single-event sporting competition.
To host the event, a number of elements need to be taken into consideration, such as FIFA statutes preventing two successive World Cups being held in the same continent in eight years, he said.
CFA represents millions of Chinese fans and also wishes to make the hosting dream come true as early as possible, it was added.
Cai, who is attending the 65th FIFA congress in Zurich, also said he wishes to introduce Chinese football to the world through this international meeting.
