(ECNS)-- The Internet has provided jobs to 10 million Chinese, approximately half of whom are rural population, Xu Jianping, an official with the National Development and Reform Commission, said on Thursday.
There are about 270 million farmer-turned migrant workers in Chinese cities, and many of them wish to return to their hometowns to start businesses, Xu said during an interview with gov.cn.
However, many problems must be resolved to help them realize this dream, including platform integration, a lack of supportive policies, weaknesses in innovation capabilities and talent cultivation, information bottlenecks, and financing difficulties, Xu added.
Recently, the State Council released a guideline on promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation.
