(ECNS) -- Internet industries have the largest hiring needs, according to a survey by online recruitment service provider Zhaopin Ltd.

Java programmers are now the most sought-after job applicants, and the salaries for them have been soaring in recent years, according to the survey.

However just a few years ago, computer programmers were forced out of the profession just to make a living.

"Most of our job applicants have years of experience in IT enterprises," says Ma Mu, a human resources director from technology giant Huawei. "Some of the qualified applicants even intend to leave their current posts at Microsoft. We are making further contact with them next Monday."

At a recent job fair that featured nearly 100 Internet and finance enterprises, over 1,300 employment opportunities were available, including software engineers and programmers. The starting annual income ranged between 200,000 to 500,000 yuan (about $32,220 to $80,550). Java programmers, APP developers, and senior big data researchers were at the top of the demand list.

Tech giant Baidu received about 500 resumes at the job fair. The company adds hundreds of staff every year to its current 50,000 employees.

German company Siemens has an increasing demand to hire specialists in multiple areas as its Chinese operations continue to expand. However, it may have trouble finding the right employees as Chinese companies are also competing for limited human resources.
