(ECNS) - A humanoid robot that resembles Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has caused a stir by "apologizing" at a robot show in Shanghai, according to reports.
The robot was displayed at the China International Robot Show 2015, held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai from July 8 to 11. Companies from 18 countries and regions presented their technology at the show.
One participant unveiled a robot resembling Shinzo Abe that smiled and bowed constantly. Many visitors were seen taking pictures with it, and photos of the robot soon attracted wide attention online.
Some Japanese people commented on the robot. One netizen said it's a laughing stock, while another said it could be a good business opportunity: "Japan should mass produce such robots. They'll sell well in China."
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. China has repeatedly criticized Shinzo Abe for creating tension over historical issues and territorial disputes.
