(ECNS) -- China is looking forward to presenting a great variety of creative activities during a Chinese Culture Season in the UK later this year as part of the China-UK Year of Cultural Exchange program.
Pu Tong, Party chief of Bureau for External Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Culture, said on Friday that China is very glad to continue its program in the UK from August to the end of 2015.
He added that both China and the UK have strong cultural traditions, while cherishing cultural inheritance and innovation.
Pu said he hopes the cultural exchange program could help increase cooperation between the two countries and boost bilateral ties.
The activities will take many forms, including drama, music, dance, design, fashion, and new media.
Pianist Lang Lang and other leading artists from the country will perform during the Edinburgh International Festival as part of the program.
Forums about cultural industry and creation will also be held in the UK, while a fashion show featuring Shanghai is to be organized in London.
China and the UK declared to hold cultural exchanges in 2015 amid efforts to expand people-to-people exchanges and enhance mutual understanding when Premier Li Keqiang visited the country last year.
Around 30 projects have been held to showcase UK culture in China in the first half of the year, while the second half will bring Chinese culture to the UK according to the program.
