(ECNS) - Microsoft announced Wednesday its new version of operating system Windows 10 will be upgraded free of charge for Windows 7 and 8 users, though a large number of Windows XP/Vista users in China will not be able to benefit from this plan.
According to StatCounter, a global analytics institution, Windows XP users make up 32.67 percent of the Chinese computer operating systems market, which means that many Chinese cannot get the free upgrade.
Many users have said they would like to upgrade to the newly released Windows 10, as the Windows 7 software they are using is barely satisfactory.
Wang Zhantao, a mobile security solutions expert with CM Browser, advised Chinese users to update as soon as possible, as Windows 10 is much safer than other Windows operating systems.
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 has many new features that promote risk prevention and enhance user experiences.
But according to Zheng Wenbin, a safety engineer expert at China's anti-virus company Qihoo 360, if the new software safety is not compatible with the Windows 10 preview, serious compatibility malfunctions might occur.
