(ECNS) -- Night traffic controls will be put in place across Beijing on Thursday and Saturday for rehearsals of a parade in memory of the 70th anniversary of a triumphant end to World War II, according to the Beijing News.[Special coverage]
The two periods of traffic control will be from 10.30 p.m. to 4 a.m. the next day. Traffic flow, both vehicle and pedestrian, around Tiananmen Square and Chang'an Avenue will be limited. Subway lines 1, 2 and 5 will temporarily cut out several stations too, including Tiananmen West, Tian'anmen East, Jianguomen, Wangfujing and Dongdan.
The parade will be held on Sept. 3.
Although centered on Tiananmen Square, traffic controls will extend beyond Beijing's Fourth Ring Road.
The city will also control traffic flow in late August for IAAF World Athletics Championship marathon races.
