(ECNS) – Starting from the second half of this year, Chinese retirees living in the United States, including those who have obtained a U.S. green card or citizenship, can enjoy the same pension as their homeland counterparts, the Yangcheng Evening News reported on Wednesday, citing the Chinese consulate general in New York.
An applicant should file the necessary documentation -- a qualification review form for retirees living abroad who want to collect their pensions in China, both the original and a copy of their passport and certificate of legal residence in the U.S. -- to the Chinese embassy or one of the consulate generals in the U.S., which administers the applicant's community.
The applicant can go to the related embassy or consulate general in person to ask for the qualification review form, which also serves as proof that they are still living and in good health, as well as to file the required documents.
They can also entrust someone else to submit the documents. If they file the application by mail, they should add a Chinese note about "proof of (the applicant) being living and in good health" on the envelope. Otherwise, the mail could be rejected.
