(ECNS) -- China's stock turmoil since June has sent shareholder sentiment into a sharp swing.
According to data released by Guangzhou Psychological Crisis Research and Intervention Center on September 9, hotline calls surged during July and August from stock investors who suffered from anxiety and despair.
The Chinese stock market has lost nearly 40 percent of its value since its high in June.
On other fronts, the Center said about 280,000 people have committed suicides each year, half of them aged 15 to 24. Pressure from school and parents is the principle reason behind teenager suicides.
The center also found that nearly 90 percent of those who committed suicide didn't call for any help.
