(ECNS) -- A teacher in northeast China's Liaoning province has been accused of hitting a student for not organizing him gifts on Teachers' Day, according to the Beijing-based Mirror.

The newspaper did not disclose the real name of either victim or class leader, but uses the alias Guo Yu. Guo said the head master, surnamed Wu, asked him and a female class leader to collect gift money on September 10, a national holiday dedicated to teaching staff.

However, Guo didn't fulfill the task till 6 pm. By seven o'clock, Wu called him to his office, and beat him for more than ten minutes after locking the door and turning out the lights, according to Guo.

Guo said he asked for mercy, and that later his mind went blank. Leaving the office, he even fell down, hurting his right arm due to smashed glass.

The teacher confessed to having acted radically towards Guo, but said he just wanted to scare the boy, hitting him only twice, once after Guo tried to hit back.

The scar on his arm was the result of the boy hitting the glass intentionally, Wu added.

He claimed that he didn't ask students for gifts "definitely." Wu explained that his anger originated from a text message where by Guo referred to him with a nickname, showing no respect.

Guo remains in hospital for treatment while the investigation is underway.
