(Ecns) -- Customs in Luohu, Shenzhen City has reminded mainland buyers to pay a 10 percent tax for their iPhone 6S/6S Plus devices bought in from neighboring Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
It was explained that although the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong are among the first regions to sell the latest iPhone models, they are still two separate markets.
Mainland buyers have to claim their purchase at the customs upon entering the mainland, it was added.
Luohu Customs has confiscated 87 unclaimed iPhones from September 25 to October 7.
Sitting on the border of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong, Luohu is a major gateways for people and cargo exchange but also a target for smuggling.
