(ECNS) -- An increasing number of Chinese employers are leveraging trending mobile technology to check attendance at work, Cnr.cn reported.
One of the new methods uses the Wechat 'Shake' function. By lightly shaking their mobile devices at work, employees are connected to an online system to check in and out.
Another system allows employers to monitor the location of their employees via the GPRS system on mobile devices. Some bosses use it to check whether their employees abuse their business trips or outdoor shifts.
With such mobile systems, employees no longer need to line up in front of check-in machines. However, some doubt whether these services infringe upon privacy. A Miss Chen also complained that it's annoying to send back location information with her pictures during working trips as requested by her boss.
Lawyers have reminded employers to inform their employees of the mobile check-in system and reach a consensus on its use in advance to avoid legal troubles.
