(ECNS) -- The Shanghai Disney Resort intends to set itself apart from global counterparts with its entrance design, the Jiefang Daily reports.
Disney has replaced its classic Main Street U.S.A. section with a Mickey Avenue to greet visitors at Shanghai Disneyland.
Main Street U.S.A. was designed by Walt Disney himself and patterned after a typical Midwestern town in the early 20th century. For 60 years, it has been the main entry of Disney theme parks worldwide. However, the designer of the Shanghai resort believes it stirs few memories for Chinese visitors.
On Mickey Avenue and in surrounding neighborhoods, visitors will be greeted by Mickey Mouse and his pals. Avenue M Arcade, one of the many shops along the avenue, will feature the largest selection of gifts and collectibles in the theme park.
Located in Pudong, Shanghai, the resort is the first Disney resort on the Chinese Mainland. It's expected to open at the end of this year.
