(ECNS) -- The U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) announced on Tuesday that it will release two sets of lucky money collections in celebration of the upcoming Year of the Monkey.
The products include $1 and $2 notes with serial numbers beginning with "8888." They are packaged in symbolic red folders decorated with monkey images and lucky words in Chinese.
The Year of the Monkey 2016 features an uncirculated Federal Reserve $1 note. Its folder bears an image of a peach-holding monkey in gold foil. The two-dollar 8888 Lucky Money Sheet features eight Series 2009 $2 bills in an uncut sheet.
In Chinese culture, the number 8 stands for luck and fortune, while the peach is a symbol for longevity.
U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios said the Lucky Money Collection has been a hit since the first set was issued in 2000.
The Lucky Money sets will go on sale at 8 a.m. Eastern Time on November 18, with $5.95 for the $1 set and $58.88 for the $2 set.
Buyers can place an order online, through phone call and fax, or at a store.
