(ECNS)-- Sinica Ltd, a Beijing-based genetic research company, has signed a deal with the government of Tianjin Municipality to build the world's largest animal cloning factory there, according to news.cn.
Led by Sinica, the joint venture is to receive investment of 200 million yuan ($31.3 million) from by the Institute of Medicine under Peking University, Tianjing International Joint Academy of Biomedicine, and South Korea's Sooam Biotech Research Foundation.
It will mainly clone dogs, primates, beef cattle, race horses, etc, to provide genetically improved animals for livestock farming and medical testing.
The company has been cooperating with the Korean foundation in the commercial cloning sector. They've provided some 550 cloned dogs to assist with tasks at airport, customs and police operations in various countries by 2015.
