(ECNS) -- A total of 24 tons of pork from Britain has arrived in central China's Henan province. The country's first batch of meat arrived at the port of entry for quarantine inspection after a joint sea-and-road transportation, chinanews.com reported.
The container of frozen pork arrived in Tianjin port last Thursday, and was then transferred to Henan by road without being opened for quarantine.
Quarantine personnel in Henan are to inspect and take samples for testing, after which the pork would be allowed onto the market.
The pork's importer, a local trade firm, said the new move has lowered transportation costs of imported meat.
