(ECNS) -- Chinese netizens are invited to supervise officials during the coming holidays by sending text messages and photos of any corrupt deeds via an online reporting system initiated by the top discipline watchdog.
On Thursday, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China launched a new function to expose rule-breaking officials. The regulations ban officials from squandering public funds on banquets, sightseeing, gifts and recreational activities, or attending various gatherings during New Year and Spring Festival holidays. Spring Festival is China's Lunar New Year.
In the four weeks beginning January 7, a weekly disclosure column will expose violations uncovered via discipline inspection and supervision authorities at various levels, while another column to publish analysis on typical cases to warn officials against corruption.
Also, a comment function will encourage netizens to report new forms of corruption and make anti-graft suggestions.
The purpose of these measures is to form "a pervasive supervision network", according to CCDI.
