(ECNS) -- Overseas Chinese residents have asked U.S. police officials to ensure justice in an Arizona shooting case that left a Chinese student dead, local newspaper China Press reported.
After a minor collision on Saturday between a car driven by student Jiang Yue and Arizona resident Holly Davis at a busy intersection, Davis allegedly got out of her vehicle and fired multiple shots into Jiang's vehicle, hitting the 19-year-old woman several times.
Jiang was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from wounds.
Yang Wentian, a member of the local Chinese community, called it "An unbearable, serious crime," and plans to work with local Chinese groups and student organizations to meet with police.
He said overseas Chinese are "Very concerned" about the case and asked police to ensure Davis faces justice.
Tempe Police Department Lieutenant Michael Pooley said Jiang attempted to drive away from the site of the shooting, but lost control and crashed into another car carrying five passengers, including a pregnant woman and three children..
Davis fled the scene but was later located based on eyewitness accounts of her car and license plate number. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested at her home on three charges including first-degree murder, Pooley said.
