(ECNS) -- Beijing Capital International Airport started offering female-only security lines on Friday as the airport saw a rapid increase in passengers ahead of the Spring Festival.
The newly-opened service will help improve the speed of security checks by 15 percent at the airport, which is one of the world's busiest, the Beijing Morning News reported.
Female passengers often carry items that can be embarrassing for male security personnel to check, a security officer explained.
The airport is expected to handle more than 10 million trips for the first time during the annual travel peak period around China's Lunar New Year holiday.
