(ECNS) -- Chinese express delivery companies have placed large orders for Boeing's newly launched freighter conversions, the Beijing Times reported.
Dubbed the 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF), the program marks Boeing's first ever conversion offering of the 737NG series.
Boeing has obtained 30 confirmed orders and 25 committed orders for 737-800BCFs, including 10 confirmed orders and 10 committed orders from China's YTO Airlines, 10 orders from China Postal Airlines, and 13 committed orders from SF Express and two other companies.
The company expects operators to use the airplanes to mainly carry express cargo on domestic routes.
The 737-800BCF can carry up to 23.9 metric tons of cargo, and fly routes of nearly 3,690 kilometers.
Its 12 pallet positions provide 141.5 cubic meters of cargo space on the main deck, supplemented by two lower-lobe compartments providing more than 43.7 cubic meters of space.
