(ECNS) -- Huangpu Port in Guangzhou, capital city of southern China's Guangdong Province, has become the first seaport in the country to adopt a smart body-temperature monitoring system.
The system allows 24-hour remote monitoring of the dynamic body temperatures of crew members during international voyages.
With the launch of the technology, Huangpu Port now boasts a "5S" smart monitoring and quarantine system for better and more efficient management of ships and crew members.
The "5S" refers to automatic shipping identification systems, video monitoring systems, shipping quarantine and supervision systems, mobile supervision systems, and smart body temperature monitoring systems.
Liu Mei, deputy chief of the Huangpu Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, said the 5S system will simplify clearance procedures and save costs for companies.
Huangpu Port has connections with nearly 400 ports globally. In 2015, it handled the clearance of more than 16,000 ships and 150,000 people.
