(ECNS) -- Chan Hon-yee, director of Hong Kong's Department of Health, has assured local residents that there will be no vaccine shortages following the latest scandal on the Chinese mainland.
An article with tips on how to get children vaccinated in Hong Kong went viral on the Chinese Internet following a vaccine scandal that sparked anger over loopholes in regulation of the world's second-largest medicine market.
More than 130 people have been apprehended after they were implicated in the scandal, and 69 criminal cases have been filed nationwide, the Ministry of Public Security said Thursday.
Chan said health authorities have not seen a noticeable increase in mainland families traveling to Hong Kong for child vaccination in recent days.
He added that Hong Kong will boost monitoring and guarantee sufficient supply of vaccines, while local children will have priority.
The Department of Health also said families of non-Hong Kong children must reserve a time for vaccination and provide valid documents.
