(ECNS) -- The hometown of Chinese novelist Cao Wenxuan is speeding up construction of an entertainment park based on the content of his novel "Grass House," after the writer won the Hans Christian Andersen Prize 2016 at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy.
The winning novel was inspired by the memorable years of a boy's primary school life set amid deeply moving and profoundly touching events, the report said.
The works of the Chinese children's fiction writer have attracted much attention since he became the first Chinese author to win the award for children's literature.
The local government attaches great importance to the influence of Grass House, and started to build a Grass House Entertainment Park in 2014 in Cao's former residence, located at Zhouhuo village in Yancheng City of Jiangsu Province.
The Grass House Entertainment Park is planned to be an integrative amusement park, incorporating children's education, rural culture, rural tourism, and an experience base, it was added.
The site of the novel's archetype has been restored, with several school houses covered with couch grasses. Tables and chairs have also been placed in the classrooms according to their former layout, the report said.
"Local government will increase investment to promote and accelerate the construction of the amusement park," said Zhou Youming, director of the Zhouhuo village committee.
"It would attract more tourists to come here to appreciate Grass House and its layout," Zhou added.
