(ECNS) -- Some 200,000 items of information about children from 1 to 5 years old in East China's Jinan City are openly touted at 32,000 yuan ($4,900), local media reported.
Buyers can also choose information according to specific districts in the capital of Shandong Province.
A seller claimed to have data on 80,000 children in Jinan's Huaiyin and Shizhong districts and charged 21,000 yuan for the information.
The items include children's names, their parents' telephone numbers and even detailed addresses.
A sample provided by the seller was checked and over 60 percent of the information is correct, the report said.
Resident Liu said she kept receiving phone calls from private educational centers and suspected her personal information had been disclosed. Some text messages she received contained the correct spelling of both her child and her names. Most of the spam messages promote tutoring courses.
A man surnamed Cui said he only remembered to have left his daughter's information when she received a vaccination.
Other parents also suspect places providing child vaccinations disclosed personal information.
Another man surnamed You said he received phone calls about vaccination fraud three times from people in Anhui and Guangdong provinces, indicating his child's information was also sold in other regions.
