(ECNS) -- China's TV watchdog has required an online video star to purge her program of foul language or face a shutdown.
Papi Jiang, a female student pursuing a master's degree in directing at the Central Academy of Drama, became a cyberspace star for her original, funny, and sarcastic short videos.
The young celebrity, who uses vulgar language frequently during broadcasts, has secured a joint investment of 12 million yuan ($1.84 million) for the program.
China's State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT) has ordered Jiang to rectify problems and scrub vulgar content.
The SARFT said the decision was based on expert reviews and public tip-offs.
A staff member at a video streaming site told China Business News that the operation has received the SARFT admonishment.
