(ECNS) -- Despite a ban on scantily clad models, three girls in heavy makeup and miniskirts were still seen posing with various luxury cars during media day as the Beijing auto show opened in Shunyi district on Monday, Beijing Morning Post reports.

At the E1 hall of the China International Exhibition Center, reporters spotted them at booths for various brands wearing armbands with the Chinese characters for "live broadcast" around their arms, the paper said.

One of the girls was trying to lean on one of the cars when she was stopped by a staff member.

Over about an hour, the girls struck seductive poses at the booths of Bentley, McLaren, Aston Martin and Lamborghini as a photographer followed along.

The girls told the paper they were broadcast anchors for social media. "Our websites sent us here," they said.

They all had press cards, but were not invited by any of the dealers, the paper confirmed.

Nine out of 10 visitors to the exhibiton said they did not support the presence of models at car shows.
