(ECNS) -- China's Consulate-General in Rio De Janeiro has urged Chinese tourists planning to attend the Rio 2016 Olympics to apply for Brazilian visas before making their trips, Xinhua News Agency reported Wednesday.
U.S., Canadian, Australian and Japanese citizens will be able to visit Brazil without a visa from the lead-up to the Rio 2016 Olympics to the conclusion of the Paralympic Games.
The temporary visa waiver program from June 1 until Sept 18 doesn't apply to Chinese nationals, said the consulate-general.
Chinese citizens must apply for a visa before arriving in Brazil to watch the Olympics or to travel, it was added.
