(ECNS) -- A nine-year-old girl has asked her parents to sign a contract to guarantee that she will not fall out of favor in the case of a second child being born into the family, Chongqing Economic Times reports.
Wang, 32, and her husband, 35, live in Yubei District of Chongqing. They have a daughter in fourth grade.
The couple, both from big families, planned to have another child after the country abolished its one-child policy. But their daughter appeared to be unhappy about the possibility of losing the exclusive love of her parents.
They had made great efforts to persuade the girl, taking every opportunity to emphasize the benefits of having a brother or sister, including helping to share the burden of taking care of them in future.
As their daughter's stance softened, they were surprised to discover a "two-child contract," handwritten by the nine-year-old, waiting for their signature.
The contract between four parties – the father and mother, the girl, and her unborn sibling - stipulated that neither parent should be partial to the second child while the elder sister's budget for clothes and food should not be compromised.
The contract is said to be valid from 2016 to 2101 and already has the daughter's signature.
Impressed by how well prepared their daughter was, her mother said she and her husband would sign the contract and keep the promises they make. She vowed to not let her daughter feel left out if there's a new member added to the family.
The girl said she is not against having a sibling and actually plans to write a 1,000-character education plan based on the subject.
"I will be tolerant to my brother or sister, but I will not help tell a lie," she told the newspaper.
