(ECNS) -- People with criminal records or mental illnesses who could endanger the safety and security of passengers will be banned from providing services on China's mobile car-hailing platforms, Beijing Times reported.
The Sharing Economy Working Committee under the Internet Society of China and Didi Chuxing, China's largest mobile transportation solution provider, jointly issued a list of specifications for drivers on mobile car-hailing platforms on Monday.
According to the list, drivers with records of major or violent crimes or crimes of endangering public security, severe public security offenses and traffic rule violations, along with people with mental illnesses that could potentially lead to offenses, crimes or road accidents, will be banned.
Fugitives and people with records of abduction, robbery, theft, drug abuse, rape, indecency, intentional injury, gang fighting, murder, endangering national security, violating public security management rules such as illegally limiting the personal freedoms of others, or breaching traffic rules, will also be brought under the ban.
As online car-hailing services offer more options for passengers, management of drivers on such platforms has become a major concern, especially among female passengers.
The aim of the list is to remove potentially dangerous people from online car-hailing platforms, but it is also designed to ensure the equal rights of employment for citizens with previous law-breaking records who do not pose a threat to the safety and security of passengers.
