(ECNS) -- China's live video-streaming site YY has deleted some obscene content involving a teenage girl but may still face punishment, Shanghai Moring Post reported.
A user of the site, surnamed Wang, said he happened to find four clips of the girl who removed her clothes seductively and reported it to the site's administrators.
The teenager was later identified as a student at a primary school in Huian County, East China's Fujian Province. Local educational authorities have worked with police to remove the online clips and are investigating the source.
The YY user said he also found other live-streamed videos that were against content rules, indicating the site's dereliction of duty in keeping a close eye on its content 24 hours a day as it has claimed, the newspaper reported.
Ji Shijun, director of a law firm and an expert on child rights, said any adult who abets minors in broadcasting sexually suggestive clips is subject to criminal penalties, and that the girl needs help if she broadcast the content on her own.
He also said YY may face legal and administrative punishment for illicit videos. Juveniles should be banned from opening accounts via live video-streaming sites, Ji added.
Many Chinese tech companies now offer streaming sites that host content ranging from videos to gameplay broadcasting services. China's authorities require live streaming service providers to remove pornographic or violent content.
